Institutions of Education: then and today
Abstract
Education can be defined as a process of socialization, whereby indi-viduals learn to participate in the institutions of society. Since institu-tions are continuously developing, education is a life-long experience that concerns all individuals. However, this general concept of educa-tion can be distinguished from a more specific understanding of edu-cation, namely the education of children into adults I In this specific case, education also means socialization through institutional partici-pation, however, here, participation has temporal limits.
