Distributed control applications : guidelines, design patterns, and application examples with the IEC 61499

Abstract

The main aim of this book is to discuss the usage of the IEC 61499 reference architecture for distributed and reconfigurable control and its adoption by industry. It provides design patterns, application guidelines, and rules for designing distributed control applications based on the IEC 61499 reference model. Moreover, selected examples from various industrial domains as well as from laboratory environments are introduced and discussed. With this content, this book provides a good overview on application domains of IEC 61499 and helps to apply the IEC 61499 models for implementing current automation solutions.
