Abstract
The principal aim of the present volume, in keeping with its title Middle and Modern English Corpus Linguistics: A Multi-dimensional Approach, is to provide a common platform for discussion among historical corpus linguists of different academic disciplines, including philologists, dialectologists and corpus designers. The contributions apply various methodologies of corpus linguistics to investigate diachronic changes in English, several aspects of Middle English (ME) and Modern English (ModE), and English dialects. The volume also contains chapters focusing on the development of English corpus linguistics generally and on its potential in the future. The articles derive from papers read at “MMECL: Middle and Modern English Corpus Linguistics”, an international conference held in Innsbruck, Austria from 5–9 July 2009 and organized by the editors of the present volume.
