dc.description.abstract | These days everyone is connected to everyone else via their desktop, laptop, smartphone, gaming system, and so on. They use these devices go online, send emails, share files, and more. And with so much information out there to be shared, we need to have a reliable network in the background allowing all that data to flow smoothly. Computer networking has been around almost as long as the computer itself. But these days it’s way more advanced than back in the beginning when it was just a few computers in one centralized building or even in the same room. And there is much more involved technology-wise to keep everything communicating reliably and with the speed required to keep everyone happy. This goal of this book is to help you increase your knowledge of how today’s modern networks operate and the hardware and software that is needed to make it all work. I will discuss the basics and tell you what you need to know to get your network up and running, and also go into more advanced topics such as routing protocols so you can see that there is much more to networking than you might think. I’m not going to make things too complicated, since the purpose of this book is to increase your networking knowledge without making you want to give up on the subject entirely. So, on that note, let’s get things started and turn you into a networking expert— or at least get you a few steps closer! | en_us |
