A study on techniques to learn and improve specialized English vocabulary for the third-year Logistics major students at Vietnam Maritime University

Abstract

The main purpose of this study is to provide some suggested techniques in learning specialized English vocabulary for the third year Logistics major students to make them more interested in learning specialized English vocabulary as well as mastering specialized English vocabulary in the most effective way. In order to gain this aim, the specific objectives of the study are: Firstly, study the theories related to ESP, awareness of the importance of ESP and learning Logistics vocabulary techniques, as well as psychology features and characteristics of third year Logistics major students. Secondly, the study explores the real situations and problems which students have to encounter in learning ESP. Thirdly, the study investigates the student‗s attitudes toward learning ESP. Finally, the main purpose of this study is to suggest some effective and productive techniques that can be applied and suited for third year Logistics major students at VMU to improve and boost specialized English vocabulary learning, enrich and strengthen their own vocabulary as well as attracts students interest as much as possible.
