A study on idioms and proverbs containing words denoting colors in English and Vietnamese: cultural and pragmatic perspectives

Abstract

This graduation thesis entitled "A Study on Idioms and Proverbs Containing Words Denoting Colors in English and Vietnamese: Cultural and Pragmatic Perspectives" aims to examine how color-related idioms and proverbs function in the two languages in terms of their meanings, cultural values, and pragmatic usage. The study focuses on five commonly used colors: red, black, white, green, and yellow, and analyzes their symbolic meanings in idiomatic expressions in both English and Vietnamese.
