An introduction to mathematical statistics and its applications
Abstract
This book addresses two broad topics—the mathematics of statistics and the practice of statistics. The two are quite different. The former refers to the probability theory that supports and justifes the various methods used to analyze data. For the most part, this background material is covered in Chapters 2 through 7. The key result is the central limit theorem, which is one of the most elegant and far-reaching results in all of mathematics.
