Abstract
This book provides a multidisciplinary, multiple author perspective of this rapidly evolving feld. The book begins with the essential background necessary to understand light-driven systems and then advances to innovative optical actuator technologies for realizing solutions in a wide range of applications. The chapters include introductory topics such as the nature of light and the interaction between light and NEMS/MEMS devices. This book also explores several photoresponsive materials that enable the design of a variety of optically driven structures and mechanisms, light-driven technologies that permit the manipulation of nano and microscale.
