Abstract: | This study investigates how multimedia technology influences the development of English listening skills among third-year English major students at Hai Phong University of Management and Technology (HPU). Using a mixed-methods approach with data from 100 student participants, the study explores how multimedia tools are utilized in listening practice and examines their perceived effectiveness. The findings indicate that multimedia significantly improves students’ listening comprehension, ability to follow natural speech, and understanding of diverse English accents. These outcomes reflect the benefits of authentic, engaging input that multimedia provides, compared to traditional listening materials. Despite notable challenges such as fast-paced speech, reliance on subtitles, and distractions, the study proposes practical solutions to help students overcome these issues. The study highlights the potential of multimedia technology to effectively support university students in strengthening their English listening skills with greater confidence and autonomy. |
