Title: The D-word: talking about dying: a guide for relatives, friends and carers
Authors: Brayne, Sue
Keywords: D-word
Dying
Carers
Issue Date: 2010
Publisher: Continuum International Publishing Group
Abstract: By the very nature of the subject, this book will raise many more questions than it can possibly hope to answer. But this is not an aca-demic or scientific study. Nor does it focus on bereavement, funerals, questions about the afterlife, the moral debate of euthanasia and assisted suicide, or the care of those suffering from dementia. Those subjects are catered for elsewhere. The D-Wordis based on the lived, felt, human experience of what it’s like to die. For that reason, I hope that this book will serve as a companion and guide to help anyone who wants to learnmore about the language of dying, or needs support as they face the end of life of someone close, or perhaps would like to prepare for the inevitability of their own death.
